If you’d rather stay in and have a romantic candlelit dinner at home, here are three tips to make your V-Day plans extra special.

  1. Create a romantic ambiance by dimming the lights and lighting scented candles instead. Then sprinkle rose pedals around, as well as turn off any distractions (i.e. computers and television) and play soft melodies in the background.
  2. Although staying home for a romantic evening may be more appealing than going out on Valentines Day, there is no shame in ordering take out from any of  the above OR your favorite restaurant. If you’d rather cook at home, keep it simple – as the night is supposed to be stress-free and a time to enjoy your loved one’s company. That said, don’t forget the appetizers and for an extra added touch, set-up a separate spot for dessert. For an extra sweet and romantic touch, create a fondue bar, with chocolates and strawberry.
  3. Lastly, although you may be staying home for dinner, it can be a lot of fun to still get dressed up. Pamper yourself, put on an outfit that makes you feel great, and charm your loved one.

Now if you’re single, just because it’s Valentines Day, it doesn’t mean you have to feel left out from the V-Day festivities. Valentines Day is a great day to remind yourself to love yourself. To take care of yourself. To celebrate and reflect on what you have learned from each of your relationships. Always remember, “Love yourself first, because that’s who you’ll be spending the rest of your life with.” And since you can’t pour from an empty cup, whether you’re a parent, spouse, sibling, child…look after yourself first, so you have something to offer others.

Happy Valentines Day!
